Wedding Floral Ideas & Tips for 2025
posted in collaboration with FlowersbyShadow
Florals can really bring your wedding's color palette and vibe to life. Whether it's a rustic affair or a sleek, modern celebration, your fresh flowers add a beautiful natural atmosphere to the theme.
Here are some of our suggestions (and also FlowersbyShadow’s favourite tips) for choosing your wedding florals!
Budget Wisely
Understand that florals can be a significant cost. Get quotes from multiple florists and discuss options within your budget. To help reduce costs, you can also think about reusable pieces (ie. moving the ceremony aisle flowers into the reception for table arrangements).

2. Don’t Skimp on Key Pieces
Invest in high-impact areas like the bridal bouquet and center pieces. These are focal points in photographs and during the ceremony.
3. Seasonal Selections
Opt for in-season flowers to get the best quality and value. Off-season blooms can really skyrocket your floral budget.
Here are the seasonal flowers that Shadow from FlowersbyShadow recommends checking out:
Spring flowers: tulips, hyacinth, daffodils, cherry blossoms, peony, Iris, daisy, rhododendron.
Summer flowers: hydrangeas, lily, dahlia, gladiola, phlox.
Fall flowers: cosmos, Lunaria annua, pampas grass, ranunculus.
Winter flowers: not many. Almost all the winter flowers come from greenhouse or import. That’s why they are expensive.
There are many flowers come all year around like roses, baby breathes, phalaenopsis.

4. Consult with a Florist
Their expertise is invaluable. They can suggest flowers that not only look stunning but also last throughout the day.
5. Check In With Your Venue
Be sure to double check with your venue to see if they have any specific rules around floral decorations, and be mindful of flowers that might trigger allergies for you or for your guests.
Also, choosing a venue with seasonal blooms is a cost-effective way to utilize existing natural flower decorations. For example, if you choose the Hycroft Manor (Vancouver, BC), there are some large pink rhododendron bushes in full bloom from May till June.
Brix & Mortar also has beautiful vines throughout their venue that would be a great background to focal flowers!
6. Floral trends for 2025
This year we’ll be seeing a lot more of the grounded ceremony arches, more organic whimsical shapes (smaller bouquets as well for that effortless feel). There’s also more unique floral varieties and color palettes, and on the other end more greenery taking center stage, or even monochromatic looks as well.
And finally, not a tip about choosing florals per se, but definitely also ensure in your timeline that your florist has ample time for setup (and for re-arrangements), especially for elaborate setups!
That’s all she wrote! For now!
Wishing you the best with wedding planning,
